The Isle of Wight County Democratic Committee held its February meeting with a focus on rebuilding the local organization and preparing for the upcoming election cycle.
Representatives from the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office joined the meeting to discuss election security and community services. They explained that deputies will rotate through polling places on Election Day to support election officials and respond to any concerns.
Committee leadership presented a reorganization plan aimed at expanding membership and building a stronger precinct structure across the county. The committee’s goal is to recruit 70 active members and help secure 11,000 Democratic votes in the upcoming election.
Two candidates for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, Matt Strickler and Patrick Mosolf, introduced themselves and shared their perspectives on protecting democratic institutions and engaging voters.
The committee also discussed expanding voter outreach using modern data tools, growing its communications network, and launching a monthly newsletter for members.
Members interested in volunteering or joining the committee are encouraged to participate in upcoming meetings and outreach activities.
